Peter Strobach  is the chief scientist of AST-Consulting, a pioneering company in advanced numerical methods for adaptive systems and statistical signal processing. Dr. Strobach has gained his professional background in 30 years of continuous industrial and academic research, education and practice.

He received his BSEE degree from Fachhochschule Regensburg in 1978, the Diplom-Ingenieur (MSEE) degree from Technical University Munich, Germany, in 1983, and the Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree from the University of the Armed Forces, Munich, in 1985.

In the years 1977 and 1978, he joined the Split Field Magnet Detector Group at CERN Nuclear Research, Geneva, Switzerland. From 1978 to 1981, he was active in several positions as a principal engineer at Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Blohm GmbH (Entwicklungsring Süd), where he worked on guided missile and aircraft ground tracking radar systems for the MRCA Tornado. From 1986 to 1992, he was a member of the technical staff and later research group leader at Siemens Corporate Research in Neuperlach  near Munich. Since 1993, he has been a Professor of Communications and System Theory at Hochschule Furtwangen University (HFU), Black Forest, Germany. From March to September 1998, he was a visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics, University of Passau, Germany.

Dr. Strobach was a Member of the New York Academy of Sciences. He received the 1988 ITG best paper award and holds a number of company-internal distinctions for his achievements in industrial R&D. He served on the Editorial Board of Signal Processing (Elsevier) and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World.
